Warren Selman, M.D., is a board-certified neurosurgeon and chief medical executive at Marcus Neuroscience Institute, a part of Baptist Health.
Dr. Selman’s clinical specialties include the surgical management of cerebrovascular disorders, traumatic brain injury, brain and skull base tumors, and pituitary tumors. He is also a leader in the development and use of virtual and augmented reality for neurosurgical procedures.
Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Selman served as the chair of the Department of Neurosurgery at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and the inaugural director of the Neurological Institute at University Hospitals, and professor of neurosurgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Dr. Selman earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He then went on to complete a surgical internship, a research fellowship and a neurosurgical residency at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Selman has held multiple leadership positions in neurosurgery, including chair of the American Board of Neurological Surgery and president of the Society of Neurological Surgeons. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Academy of Neurological Surgeons, The Congress of Neurological Surgeons and The Neurosurgical Society of America. He has published work in more than 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts, chapters and books.
As a neurosurgeon, Dr. Selman considers it a privilege to help his patients and their families deal with neurosurgical problems that can have such a profound impact on their lives. He is committed to treating his patients and families with dignity, respect and compassion during challenging times.
In his free time, Dr. Selman enjoys spending time with his family, and is also a rock and blues guitarist/vocalist. He is a co-founding member of the band The Nerve.
