Four New Year Babies Born at Baptist Health Hospitals

While thousands of South Floridians were ringing in the New Year, a few expecting parents in the maternity units at Baptist Health hospitals celebrated milestones of their own.

All four Baptist Health hospitals that offer maternity services welcomed new year babies this year. The babies were delivered in the early hours of January 1, 2017, at 2:10 a.m., 5:08 a.m., 6:02 a.m. and 8:49 a.m., at West Kendall Baptist Hospital, Homestead Hospital, Baptist Hospital, and South Miami Hospital, respectively.

Yarisledis Miranda Alonso, 35, of Hialeah, who delivered the first baby born at South Miami Hospital in 2017, said she was overwhelmed with joy. The first child for Ms. Alonso and her husband, Baby Gabriella entered the new year weighing 6 pounds and measuring 18 inches. Orlando Leon, M.D., an obstetrician affiliated with South Miami Hospital, delivered the baby girl.
