Our experts may also recommend tests to learn more about your condition. These tests include:
- CT scan
- Cystoscopy
- Endoscopy
- Genomic testing
- MRI
- MRI fusion biopsy
- Ultrasound
Treating Genitourinary Cancers
At Lynn Cancer Institute, we know everyone’s cancer experience is different. So, you need personalized treatment, too. Our experts work together to design a therapy plan that best fits your unique needs. During a visit to our multidisciplinary urologic oncology clinic, you will meet every specialist on your care team. This group will include medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiologists and pathologists. We also include genetic counselors if you have a family history of genitourinary cancer. After reviewing your imaging and test results with you, we will collectively identify the best treatment options for your needs. In some cases, we may recommend a clinical trial looking at a new therapy or therapy combination.
Your personal plan will depend on your specific tumor type and diagnosis. Treatments can include:

- Radiation therapy
- Surgery, including minimally invasive robotic surgery

An MRI fusion biopsy is a diagnostic test that combines ultrasound (sound waves) with detailed pictures from an MRI. This combined image helps us pinpoint the exact location of a prostate tumor so we can take a more precise biopsy. Lynn Cancer Institute was one of the first centers in the region to use this advanced testing technique.
-
Yes. We offer genetic testing for people who may have a hereditary predisposition that increases their risk for developing cancer. Understanding this risk helps us develop better treatment and prevention plans for you and your family. You will meet with our genetic counselor to discuss testing options if we think you have a genetic risk for cancer. We may also recommend your family members undergo genetic counseling and testing.
