The Baptist Health Medical Physics Residency at Miami Cancer Institute is a two-year training program designed for individuals with an M.S. or Ph.D. degree who seek training in clinical radiation oncology physics in preparation for a clinically oriented career. The program’s objective is to provide clinical training in radiation oncology physics that will prepare the graduate for board certification and a professional career in radiation oncology.
Residents fully participate in the clinical routine under the supervision of experienced radiation oncology physicists. Comprehensive training and experience are provided in the areas of dosimetry, treatment planning, brachytherapy, radiation safety, multi-modality imaging, radiographic and MR image guidance, particle therapy, special procedures and quality assurance. Training prepares graduates for certification in the specialty of therapeutic medical physics by the American Board of Radiology. Graduates will also receive sufficient clinical training that should prepare them for work as a radiation oncology physicist.

Eligibility Prerequisites
- Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Physics, Engineering, or other Physical Science with coursework including at least three upper-level undergraduate physics courses
- Must be a graduate of either:
- MS or PhD program accredited by CAMPEP; or
- PhD program in physics or related discipline and have completed a CAMPEP-accredited certificate program; or
- PhD program in physics or related discipline and completed coursework equivalent to CAMPEP- accredited certificate program, as determined by the CAMPEP Graduate Education Program Review Committee
