The same elite team of surgeons and specialists that provide expert care for high school, college and professional athletes across South Florida is now bringing its talents to Plantation.
Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute, one of Baptist Health’s centers of excellence, has opened a new location in Baptist Health’s new wellness and medical complex in Plantation, said Javier Hernandez-Lichtl, chief executive officer of Doctors Hospital and Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute.
“Whether you’re injured at home or on the playing field, if you live in Broward you now have access to the same high-quality orthopedic and sports medicine services enjoyed by the Miami HEAT, Miami Dolphins, Florida Panthers and others,” Mr. Hernandez-Lichtl said.
Athlete or not, anyone who is experiencing pain, limited range of motion or any type of musculoskeletal condition that affects their performance or their quality of life can benefit from the treatments and services now available at Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute at Plantation.
“The Institute brings a total team approach to each patient’s care here,” said John Uribe, M.D., chief medical officer for the Institute and team physician for the Miami Dolphins and the Florida Panthers, among others. “The nationally and internationally renowned orthopedic surgeons and orthopedic specialists here are backed up by the most advanced technology and comprehensive rehabilitation programs.”
Dr. Uribe is one of two orthopedic sports medicine surgeons at Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute, along with Gautam Yagnik, M.D. They are joined by hand surgeon Roy Cardoso, M.D., foot and ankle surgeon Cary Chapman, M.D., and two primary care sports medicine physicians, Luis Rodriguez, M.D., and Michael Swartzon, M.D.
Mr. Hernandez-Lichtl said that the new location includes a state-of-the-art physical therapy facility for treating a range of orthopedic and sports medicine injuries. “Our goal here,” he said, “is to build strength, restore function, improve lifestyle and get patients back to doing the things they love.”
Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute at Plantation is part of Baptist Health’s new, 112,000-square-foot wellness and medical complex located at 1228 South Pine Island Road, just north of I-595. The complex offers a full range of integrated health and wellness services – including urgent care, primary care, endocrinology, cardiology, cancer care, orthopedics, spine care and more – all under one roof.
