Services and Treatments We Provide

The Psychosocial Oncology team at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute provides a variety of psychosocial services and interventions. These include:

  • Our Brain Fitness Lab — The fitness lab helps our team diagnose and manage cancer-related cognitive dysfunction.
  • Counseling and therapy — These services are available to patients and caregivers. They can help address anxiety, depression, fear of cancer recurrence and insomnia.
  • Medical treatment — We help find the right medicines to treat anxiety, depression, fatigue and insomnia.
  • Mind-body therapies — Mind-body therapies address how your mind and body interact and impact wellness. Treatments we offer to improve these interactions include meditation, mindfulness training, deep breathing techniques, muscle relaxation exercises, movement classes (yoga and tai chi) and exercise classes.
  • Pastoral counseling — We have chaplains representing several religious faiths. They’ve received special training to provide emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families.
  • Social work services — Our social workers provide emotional support for patients and caregivers. They offer assistance with community resources, workplace and school issues, advanced directives and more.
  • Stress management and resiliency training — We provide Stress Management and Resiliency Training (SMART) workshops for eligible patients.
  • Support Groups — Our support groups may help you reduce anxiety and overcome feelings of helplessness.

  • Help you cope with side effects of treatment
  • Help you deal with practical problems, such as problems at work or school
  • Help you feel better, more hopeful and not so alone
