Some medications used to treat certain diseases or conditions require extra attention than regular prescriptions sold at most retail pharmacies. Getting these, usually high-cost, specialty medications involves a pre-authorization from insurance companies, careful handling, scheduled doses and precise measuring, along with careful monitoring of side effects.

What Does a Specialty Pharmacy Offer?

If you need a specialty medication to manage or treat your condition, our pharmacy offers these specialized prescription drugs. The pharmacy’s specially trained staff and clinical pharmacists work closely with you and your doctor to:

  • Monitor effectiveness.
  • Uncover and prevent dangerous side effects.
  • Educate you on these important aspects of your medication.
  • Pair you with available resources to contain your costs.
  • Get these medications to you as quickly as possible with free home delivery available.

Supporting Our Patients

  • When you receive a prescription from Baptist Health Specialty Pharmacy, our pharmacists spend time with you explaining what your medication does and what you can expect so you feel safe and confident when taking it at home. This clinical care and counseling continues throughout your treatment as part of our patient management program. If you decide to opt out of the program, we will continue to work closely with your physician to monitor side effects and how well the medicine is working.

  • Your doctor will send us your prescription or you can drop it off at the pharmacy. Before we fill the prescription, our pharmacy staff handles all approvals with your insurance provider and lets you know if you have a co-pay or out-of-pocket cost.

If for any reason we are unable to fill your prescription, we will let you know and help you find a pharmacy that can.

  • We work closely with your doctor to arrange refills and renewals of your prescriptions. A member of our team will contact you when it is time to refill a prescription to make sure you don’t run out. Please give us a call during normal business hours at 786-527-8200 if you have any questions.
