While the battle over Medicaid expansion for Florida’s uninsured wages on in Tallahassee, Baptist Health South Florida and the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University (FIU) are coming together to help the South Miami community get improved access to healthcare.
The South Miami Green Family Foundation Neighborhood HELP program will provide a community-based strategic approach to improve healthcare access in the area.
The program will enlist 100 families, who will work with either a health outreach worker or a medical student team to assess their health and chart a course of action to set goals to improve their overall health.
Additionally, the families will be able to visit a Mobile Health Center, which will provide primary health services.
The Baptist Health South Florida News team was there for the announcement and to tour the Mobile Health Center.
